What We Do
Algoma Steel manufactures and sells hot and cold rolled steel products, including sheet and plate with a production capacity of four million tons. We produce some of the cleanest, most consistent light gauge steel in North America.
Our Direct Strip Production Complex is the newest facility of its kind on the continent. It transforms liquid steel to a finished coil in minutes. Our highly versatile plate and strip complex produces a full range of as-rolled and heat-treated plate and some of the widest coils available.
Algoma Steel’s quality products meet international performance standards for manufacturing, automotive, construction, mining, energy, ship, rail and military applications.
Our Manufacturing Process
Algoma Steel has been a mainstay of the North American steel industry for more than 100 years. Today we produce some of the cleanest, most consistent light gauge steel in North America, offering a wide range of hot and cold rolled steel sheet and plate products.
A fully integrated steel producer, Algoma Steel’s size and diverse capabilities enable us to deliver responsive, customer driven product solutions straight from the ladle to direct applications in the automotive, construction, energy, defense and manufacturing sectors.
Algoma Steel’s cornerstone asset, the Direct Strip Production Complex, is the newest thin slab caster coupled with direct hot rolling in North America. The DSPC™ positions Algoma Steel as one of North America’s leading suppliers of high strength and light gauge steel, transforming liquid steel to a finished coil in about thirty minutes. In addition, Algoma Steel’s Heat-Treated Plate facility provides a full range of high quality heat treated products for abrasion resistant, ballistic and other specialty plate applications.
